Why gadgets may make you feel low!

It’s not about the engagement with the gadgets that matters in general, rather it’s about the type of or amount of engagement with them that matters. Now what I mean by that is we all use the almighty trend in this era namely the Social Media!

And not to mention that to even use or experience the Social Media wave we need electronic gadgets and the most common of them being our smartphones. More on that a bit! Right now the task of this post is to make sure that you “my fellow reader!” are able to literally understand the situations you engage yourself with the gadgets and how to mitigate the end of the day, though ephemeral, “depression” that you experience every single day.

I am ready to bet that once every night before you go to bed, you surely lose your soporific state of mind. Guess the reason? I am sure you know it!

It’s your dear smartphone that makes you feel magnanimous and gives you the superficial sense of gratification every time you check on it! And it better not be before bedtime that you check your cell phone(s) “Notice that ‘s’ there? Quite ironic, isn’t it ?”. Because if it is then viola! You now know the reason why you lose your soporific feeling before going to bed.

Let me ask you a simple question.

How is it possible for you to believe or anticipate that a person’s life is exponentially better than yours just by gleaming over his/her filtered photos (Over Instagram or snap chat, it’s your call!)? And why is it that when you feel low you tend to ignore any kind of human interaction and instead turn to the Social Media? And after doing so, what kind of an art you possess that lets you feel ecstatic after watching others in joy and pleasure or in possession of things in life that you don’t have?

I would say that your ultimate cause of feeling depressed itself roots from the engagement with gadgets at the wrong time or situation. It is by no means bad to explore new things on Social Media, nor is it bad to use your Smartphone to it’s fullest potential but it is regarded as psychologically harmful when you tend to use Social Media as an alias to real human interaction. That’s when you miss out on developing social skills and start developing “docile” skills of gleaming over unworthy content and anticipating everything bad for yourself.

“Innovation doesn’t come from the brain’s constant recursive engagement with random subjects or matters, rather innovation is the offspring of the peaceful and curious mind. ”

First proof that I would like to present is this post Itself. All the insights that are present in this post literally came to me when I was gazing at the blue sky pigmented with the black clouds and thinking what is that I could do to adequately consume my inner ignition to do something creative. And while I was introspecting I realized that being pensive is by far the worst decision I took to lease out creativity. Instead, if I stay calm and forget that someone is messaging me right now on any Social Media platform, I could feel the same Dopamine rush! Yes, that is true. We all tend to rely on the Dopamine that our body secretes in concurrence with using addictive things and while it is true for Drinking, Smoking, and gambling it is equally true when we use Social Media or any kind of worthless stimulant served by our selfless lovely gadgets!

Second proof regarding the fact that gadgets restrict organic innovation by humans is pretty straightforward. Let me affix this proof with another question: How many days in a row have you felt the ignition to start something creative early morning and see it disappear just like smoke in the wind? Now if your answer is more than 1, I am sure to say that you check your smartphone as soon as you wake up in the morning snatching the time that you could give your rejuvenated brain to think and prosper on new creative ambitions. Your brain starts receiving a stimulus and tries responding to all of the discrete topics with short and temporary thoughts. These thoughts make your brain fatigued and no matter how hard you try to satisfy it with more vivid and discrete content on your gadget, it will not come out of that infinite loop of gaining and losing alertness until you stop feeding it with random worthless content.

In conclusion, the way we use our advanced than future gadgets is more important than just the usage itself.

We need to understand at some point that to be the next innovators, to have the job fulfilment, to have the experience of real friendship and love, to pretend the universe we need to stop surrendering to monotonicity created by these seeming Social media platforms by their discrete collection of contents and hold the bar of focus, deep work and introspection to experience the real ecstatic feeling of being alive!

P.S

** Note: This post may seem extreme to many of the readers! But notice the excessive usage of the word “worthless” in this post? This is done to signify that not all content that you consume on your gadgets are worthless and it is wasteful of your mind only when you do consume random worthless content to keep the brain engaged! (Even this post is not worthless! ;))**
